Questions and aswers on the new web site

Why a new web site?
The previous NRS page was located as an integrated part of the ESR web site. The web supplier OneInnovation were not able to maintain the security of the site at a reasonable cost and the ESR Committee decided in April 2015, to end all relations with that company. The site was then further breached by hackers and was eventually closed by the web hotel due to the security issues.

Is the new site still part of the ESR site?
No, the NRS board could not wait for the ESR to set up a new site since we need to advertise the next NRC in Helsinki in May. The ESR has presently a temporary static page in anticipation of a full web site.

Who made the page?
The NRS board with Mats Stading and Johan Wiklund in the lead wrote the specification for the new site, Rikard Nilsson of IN.se wrote the code with input from Caroline Widefjärd at Carro & Co. on the graphical design.

There are some functions missing on the page, why?
The NRS site will be expanded in steps to ensure security and suitable functionality. The present site is stage one and includes necessary information on NRS and News handling for all members. In stage 2 there will be member handling with member fee payment and reminders, Event handling and a calendar and links to social media. The current plan includes further functionality such as a discussion forum, automated handling of Newsletters and an archive for the Annual Transactions.

Who can post News?
Currently all members can post News. You post text and a photo through the “Members” menu, and the News is then posted after the News moderator has approved it.

Which type of News can you post?
Post any news that can be have interested for the members, and remember that we have members throughout Europe and also other parts of the world, so post everything of interest! You can also post on the NRS Facebook page.

Why is there a parallel Facebook page?
Facebook is very good at handling posts including comments and photos and it is easy to share information. The NRS FB page is presently used for distributing photos and news which is not necessarily so general that it fits on the web site. There will be a significant overlap, but let’s live with that until we see how it works.

Transactions and other old material are missing, why?
The old was infected and cannot be directly accessed. The board is working on recovering the old material and adds it in stage two of the site development.

How do I log in to the web site?
If you are not a member you click Membership and fill out your details. If you are a member, click Log in and fill out username and password, see How to: First time to log in.
