Nordic Rheology Conference

 

The annual NRC, the Nordic Rheology Conference features invited speakers of international standing as well as sessions on general rheology. Read more about the next NRC.
Contributing papers are published in the Annual Transactions of the NRS which is distributed to the members. The NRC also offers an exhibition of rheological equipment, poster display and rheology courses which makes it the leading meeting place for industry and academia in the Nordic countries.

DRG Symposium, Berlin
The conference is jointly organised by NRS and DRG (Deutsche Rheologische Gesellschaft) and will cover all aspects and areas of rheology. Industrial case studies and academic research papers are equally welcome. The aim is to gather rheologists and enhance the exchange of knowledge between researchers, users, application specialists and instrumentation manufacturers in the Nordic countries, Germany and beyond.

The scope and theme for the NRC2024 will be Rheology for Science and Technology. As usual, contributions from experimental and theoretical contributions from all areas of rheology, industrial case studies, and all kinds of contributions are welcomed. The goal of the conference is to create a gathering of people interested in the scientific, technical, and industrial applications within the science of rheology.

The conference, as usual, covers the complete area of rheology.The main theme for NRC2022 is Supramolecular chemistry. All kinds of papers are welcome, especially e.g. industrial case studies. In 2021, the Nordic Rheology Conference will be organized jointly with the Nordic Polymer Days (NRC&NPD2021). The special theme of the conference is 'Sustainable Chemistry and Materials', but oral and poster contributions from all areas of rheology, polymer and biomaterials research are warmly welcome. Both academic and industrial researchers are cordially invited to present their latest research findings.

The Annual European Rheology Conference 2021 was due to travel restrictions held in Cyberspace where participants met as avatars rather than physically. It was almost like a normal conference and you could walk around in the conference centre and choose session, or interact with colleagues at the exhibition area and by a poster, but from a safe distance behind your own computer screen. <br><br> Contributions from industrial case studies as well as academic studies were presented for more than five hundred participants interested in the science, technology and application development within the area of rheology. <br><br> The conference could be followed in the <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/groups/1959758/">Rheology Forum</a> on Linkedin and the group <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/rheology/">Rheology</a> on Facebook.

The Nordic Rheology Conferences are open for all interested in rheology. Due to travel restrictions related to the spread of covid-19 the participants 2020 met as avatars in cyberspace rather than physically. <br><br> Like previous NRCs all aspects and areas of rheology were covered including contributions from industrial case studies as well as academic studies, and the aim was a large gathering of persons interested in the science, technology and application development within the area of rheology. There were interesting lectures and posters as well as networking and an exhibition.<br><br>

The conference covered all aspects and areas of rheology. Industrial case studies and academic research papers were presented. <br/><br/> The NRC2019 highlighted the rheology of cellulose systems relating to the use in polymer composites, coatings, paper, pulp, pharmaceuticals, food, etc. The pulp and paper industry is important in the Nordic countries and special attention was therefore given to this field. Other subjects of special interest for NRC2019 included food, polymeric materials and bio-applications.

  HIGHLIGHTS
NRS Carl Klason and Young Rheologist Awards 2025
Both NRS Awards were handed over at the joint Nordic Rheology Conference and DRG Symposium 2025.

The Carl Klason Rheology Award was given to Prof. Mats Stading from RISE and Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. His award lecture was entitled From Fluid to Solid Research and contained a thorough overview of Mats' outstanding work he performed throughout his career.

The NRS Young Rheologist Award was given to Julie Frost Dahl, who conducted her PhD research Measure, Understand, and Predict Structure Formation in Plant-Based Anisotropic Foods at Aarhus University in Denmark.

Mats and Julie were both present at the conference to receive their awards. Congratulations to both of you!
